Immigration, Human Rights, and “The Consul”
A discussion and community conversation on Gian Carlo Menotti’s opera “The Consul”. With close ties to current events, “The Consul” explores themes of immigration rights, oppressive bureaucracy and the loss of identity in the struggle between the “powerful” and the “weak”. Note: The Consul will be presented by the Dayton Opera on October 20 and 22, 2017. This discussion and conversation will be lead by Patrick Reynolds, conductor for the Dayton Opera production.
