The Dayton Performing Arts Alliance is a nonprofit performing arts association located in Dayton, Ohio and composed of three performing arts groups: the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra, the Dayton Opera, and the Dayton Ballet. The Dayton Performing Arts Alliance is believed to be one of the first nonprofit organizations in the United States to simultaneously manage a symphony orchestra, an opera company, and a ballet company.
Together with the Dayton International Peace Museum, the Alliance will sponsor the following event in 2017: A discussion and community conversation on Gian Carlo Menotti’s opera “The Consul”. With close ties to current events, “The Consul” explores themes of immigration rights, oppressive bureaucracy and the loss of identity in the struggle between the “powerful” and the “weak”. Note: The Consul will be presented by the Dayton Opera on October 20 and 22, 2017. This discussion and conversation will be lead by Patrick Reynolds, conductor for the Dayton Opera production.
